Do you want to go for a wireless access point but do not want to spend too much on it? This Wireless N300 2T2R Access Point will be the right choice for you. This modem cost under $30, but I was blown away by the amazing features in it.

TP-Link is a very well-known brand, so I was not surprised because the company has always packed some of the best features to support products at affordable prices.

Multiple Operating Modes: Worth the Hype?

You would think that such an affordable modem may not have all the necessary operating modes. However, this access point proves you wrong with its multiple operating modes. It has Access Point, Client, Bridge with AP, Multi SSID, and Universal / WDS Repeater.

With so many operating modes, you will have no issues running multiple wireless modems seamlessly. Even though this seems good in theory, I was a little skeptical about its actual application.

Let me tell you — the modem works exactly as the company states. I connected all of the wireless applications I use, and there were no problems with connectivity. The whole experience for me was comprehensive and dynamic.

What Kind of Speed and Range Does it Offer?

Another great thing about this access point is the speed and range. Let us talk about the speed of the modem first, which is up to 300Mbps. You will find this quite suitable for VoIP, video streaming, online gaming, and others.

The speed may be unsuitable for some, but this is more than what you will get from most access points in this range.

Apart from the speed, another aspect that impressed me was the range. This access point offers a PoE (Power over Ethernet) capability of about 30 meters or 100 feet, making it easy to manage. This is great for most homes, and you can enjoy network coverage in almost all rooms.

This is another very affordable modem that has good features. From the name, you can already understand that the TP-Link N300 Nano Travel Modem is good for people who have a large house.

You might not always find a wireless modem within your budget that can cover the whole house. In that case, having a modem that you can carry with you would be easier. Now, let me take you through the features of this modem.

Great for Travelling!

A great problem that most people face when they go traveling is connectivity. There have been times when I needed a network connection to work or upload a picture when I was on vacation. However, that becomes impossible since your phone network may not work at all times.

The pocket-sized modem saves you from this trouble. You can carry this travel modem without any hassle, and it does not take up much space in your bag as well.

Since I often go on vacation and work tours, this modem can be my perfect network companion.

Seamless Streaming Experience

How much speed would you expect from a low-budget mini modem? Not much, right? This access point will surely surprise you!

Since this belongs to the N300 range, like my previous product, this also has a 300 Mbps speed on the 2.4 GHz band. It means you can seamlessly stream videos and enjoy fast browsing with this. I even tried the speed for online gaming and was quite happy with it.

You may not be able to play fast-paced, large-data games with this network. However, the modem can maintain your online existence when you are on the move.

I thought an access point like this would only have one or two operating modes. However, the modem has four operating modes – access point, range extender, media bridge, and modem.

If you stay in a hotel with a wired network, you can use the WAN or LAN and connect it to the Ethernet Port.

All three products in this category may belong to TP-Link, but that’s because the company offers high-quality solutions at an affordable range. The TP-Link N450 Wi-Fi Modem also belongs to the below $30 price range.

It is the perfect addition to your home and offers high-performance speed than the other two modems mentioned above.

How is the Performance?

As I said, the modem offers higher speed even at such a low price. It has a speed of up to 450 Mbps which is great for bandwidth-intensive services. You can use it for online gaming, HD video streaming, and VoIP.

The modem can turn your house into a large hotspot. It offers a high data transfer rate which is normally not found in a low-budget access point.

The modem is not just suitable for large homes but also for small offices. If you are searching for a modem covering a large distance, this is the right option.

Is it Easy To Install and Get Started?

A great thing about these modems is the ease of installation. They know that customers would not like to spend much time if the setup process is complicated. The configuration of the modem is also very easy.

After I was done with the initial installation, I received a pop-up message asking me to reboot the modem. Once the reboot was finished, the modem was good to go.

Enhanced Security and Controls

The setup of the modem is not the only interesting aspect. It also provides enhanced security which keeps other unwanted modems from hacking in your access point.

For a new company, Zyxel has made pretty large claims since its launch. However, not many people trusted the brand since it did not have any strong credibility yet. So, I decided to test and see if the claims made by the brand were true or just another marketing tactic.

Here is what I found when I tested this access point.

Multiple Ethernet Ports

The main reason for including this modem in the Ethernet Port category is the presence of multiple Ethernet ports. This is not something you see in too many modems below the $50 price range.

Most access points have two standard Ethernet ports, but this modem has five. The great thing about having five Ethernet ports is the amazing flexibility.

You no longer have to think about which wired modem you want to set up first. With this modem, my home has been transformed into a great entertainment zone.

No Obstruction With Wall-Mount Feature

Not all users might like the wall-mounted feature, but personally, this came as a great relief for me. I do not like cluttering my house, and I can keep it on the wall with this feature.

The wall-mounted feature lets the modem propped up on the wall. If you do not want to mount the modem on the wall, you could just set it up on the desk.

Awesome LED Display

Doesn’t it frustrate you when the link drops, and you don’t know why? I found the modem to be extremely intuitive when it comes to network drop. You can check what the link colors mean on your phone.

This will keep you aware of when the network connectivity is not good. You can see a different flashlight color in case there is a problem with your connection. Isn’t it great?

14. Ubiquiti Networks Unifi 802.11ac Dual-Radio PRO Access Point

The Ubiquiti AC-PRO is another great example of a modem with good connectivity options. This modem comes from a US-based manufacturer and has made some big claims regarding its functionality.

The modem can be perfect for many small business owners and homeowners who need to connect multiple modems.

Remarkable Design

Gone are the days when people used to buy bulky modems. These days users look for a good design that would go well with their place of setup. Ubiquiti has designed its modems by keeping this in mind.

The modem comes in a round shape with a matte white finish. There is a round canal on the modem, and the LED light shines underneath this canal.

A rubber panel covers the ports area. Upon opening the panel, you will find two Ethernet ports, a Reset button, and a USB 2.0 port. You can use the Ethernet ports to link the access point to a PoE (Power over Ethernet) injector, switch, or modem.

The one drawback to this modem would be the absence of the Ethernet cable and PoE adapter.

Central Control

UniFi is one of those brands that offer central management control for its modems. This means you can control the functionalities of the AC-PRO from a single control panel. It would make things extremely easy for you.

The control can be done using the UniFi Controller v4 software, which lets you increase scalability. You can remotely access this controller and upgrade the UniFi APs you have deployed.

Easy Installation

The UniFi modem is very easy to install, and the functionality is not complicated. You will need an installer if you do not have expertise in these modems. However, the package comes with a manual that has the necessary information.

I found the manual to be very detailed and was able to set up the modem quite easily. With a little help from someone who knows technology, you can do this without any professional assistance.

Once you have set up the modem, the configuration can also be done without any hassle. However, you might need technical expertise for this step.

15. TP-Link AC1200 Gigabit Smart Wi-Fi Modem

This final modem is good for small to medium-sized apartments. This modem has all the necessary features and comes at a very affordable price.

You might not find very advanced features, but you will get almost everything you need for standard connectivity. Let us take a glance at the features that the modem offers.

Robust Design With Necessary Inclusions

The overall design of the modem is robust and stylish. You will find the necessary elements at the back of the modem. Here you can see the power button, a USB 2.0 port, the WPS button, the internet port, and the power jack.

The modem offers you four Ethernet ports that run at 1 Gbps each. Archer C1200 comes with three fixed antennas that you can move to get a better signal.

The presence of the three antennas also means you will get stronger coverage. These antennas have beamforming which helps with locating Wi-Fi modems and focuses the signal on these modems.

How’s the Connectivity?

From the design, you can already understand how seamless and lag-free the connection would be. With the antennas, the signal will only be directed towards the Wi-Fi modems. This will ensure the signals are not all over the place.

I watched HD movies for a long time and did not face any lag. You can also use it to share media files and also download files. I also downloaded several media files, and they were done within a few minutes.

Wireless AC Upgrade

The aspect I liked the best about this modem was the upgrade to Wireless AC. This feature would enhance the network coverage in your home. There are dual Wi-Fi bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

These Dual-Bands let you connect more modems simultaneously and offer up to 1167 Mbps speed. This is something you will not find on most modems.

Whether you’re at home or work, getting internet connectivity issues is something you will never want to have. That’s why I must always have a wireless router to help me boost the signal to areas where it is weak. The TP-Link AX1500 Wi-Fi Extender Internet Booster is a Next-Gen Wi-Fi range extender that supports Wi-Fi 6. I liked this device because of:

Batman design

Who can resist such a cool looking Wi-Fi extender? Perhaps this is the primary decision I choose to go with this device. But I like how clean and organized it looks. The front includes four LED light indicators that show the Wi-Fi connectivity, power, and 2.4 and 5 GHz level indicators. This is quite convenient for me to know what is what.

Stellar performance to say the least

The TP-Link AX1500 supports IEEE 802.11ax/ac/a/n bands and functions on the wireless 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. With my physical wall separation, I had to connect the extender 20 feet away from the router. When I connected multiple laptops and smartphones to the Wi-Fi simultaneously, the wireless signals became really strong on all devices. I found no issues even when I conducted a connectivity stress test.

During my tests, I was able to achieve an average speed of 120Mbps to 250Mbps. However, the manufacturer claims that the speeds can reach up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz bandwidth and 1200Mbps on the 5GHz bandwidth. When on Wi-Fi 6, the speeds can even get up to 1.5Gbps. What more do you need?

17. TP-Link Omada AC1350 Gigabit Wireless Access Point

When companies release a “new revision” of an already existing device, it’s always a big gamble. Because, while they may appear to be improvements on paper, they can quickly become a step backward in practice. Thankfully, the new version of the TP-Link Omada AC1350 Gigabit does not appear to have this issue. It performs admirably. I got this new version and I liked it for a couple of reasons:
